101 To all whom it may concern. Be it Known that I Alexander Randall of the city of Annapolis in the state of Maryland for and in consideration of one hundred and twelve dollars current money and for and in consideration of divers good causes and considerations me thereto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate and set free my mulatto woman Eliza called Eliza Paul being about the age of twenty seven years and able to gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Eliza Paul I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this twenty seventh day of December in the year eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of A Randall (seal) Edward sands John T Johnson At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County On this twenty seventh day of December in the year 1854 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Alexander Randall aforesaid also of the said County and acknowledges the above deed of Manumission to be his act and deed John E. Stalker Recorded the 8th day of January 1855 To all whom it may concern be it Known that whereas John W. Brice a free colored man of the city of Annapolis has for a long time lived and cohabited with my servant woman Mary Jane as her husband and is desirous now of purchasing her freedom and is willing to give therefor the sum of five hundred dollars. Now therefore I Richard C. Mackubin of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for and in consideration of the above and of the sum of five hundred dollars current money to me in hand well and truly paid by the said |
