96 In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day of January one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Stephen Boone (seal) James Hunter J Williams At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: anne arundel County to wit: On the 12th day of January 1819 personally appears Stephen Boone party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes above mentioned and the negro Girl above specified manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before James Hunter d.d Ex.d 2½ Recorded the 12th day of January 1819 This Indenture Witnesseth that I Samuel Jones of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free my negro Girl named Nelly aged about sixteen years of a healthy constitution and capable of Labour to procure sufficient food and raiment with other requisites of life provided that the said Nelly shall continue to service me as heretofore and in all things (demean) |
