97 demean herself as a faithful and obedient servant to me untill the sixteenth day of September Eighteen hundred and thirty six and if during the continuance of the servitude of the said Nelly she shall have any issue of her body begotten then I do determine grant and agree the State of Condition of the said issue shall be free the males at the age of twenty five years and the females at the age of twenty one years and I do hereby manumit and set free the said issue at the said ages In Witness whereof I the said Samuel Jones have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eleventh day of January Eighteen hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Samuel Jones (seal) Susan Harrison John Johns At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: on this 11th day of January 1819 personally appears Samuel Jones party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes above mentioned and the Negro Girl and her issue as above mentioned to be manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free at the time mentioned above according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid John Johns Ex.d d.d 3½ Recorded the 16th day of January 1819 |
