9 Signed Seal'd and delivered in the presence of Basil D Hall Sophia D Hall At the foot of and on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the sixteenth day of September Eighteen hundred and fifteen the sum of three hundred & fifty dollars current money it being in full consideration money with in mentioned Eliza Hood (seal) A A County to wit: On this twenty fifth day of September personally appears Elizabeth Hood party top the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Wm Hall J.r paid 3¼ Recorded the 28th day of September 1816 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I George Watts of Ann Arundle County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one Cent Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Ann Docking being of the age of Forty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Ann Docking I do declare to be henceforth (free) |
