8 Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman and child within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before John Johns chd 2¾ Recorded the 18 day of September 1816 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Elizabeth Hood of ann arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of three hundred & fifty dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Vachel whom said Elizabeth Hood sold to Benjamin Stansbury for the term of twelve years from the sixteenth day of September Eighteen hundred and fifteen said Vachel being of the age of Eighteen years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Vachel & do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever.
