85 set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth day of September 1818 Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Charles Griffith Mary Israel (seal) Nicholas Worthington of Tho.s On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Ann Arundel County to wit: On the 9th day of September 1818 Came mary Israel before the subscriber a Justice of peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be her act & deed and each of the negroes therein named to be free from and after the day that each shall accomplish his of her twenty fifth year of age according to the true intent and meaning of the within deed & the law in such cases made and provided paid Nicholas Worthington of Thos Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 10.th day of September 1818 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Charles Griffith of ann arundel County in Maryland for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery ^liberated^ manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit & set free the following named negroes from and after the period that they respectively shall arrive to twenty five years of age Viz Dinah born 7.th Nov.r 1795 Daniel born 4.th July 1809 William born 21.st march 1812 Benjamin born 19th Aug.t 1814 and Mary ann born 27.th may 1818 and I do hereby declare each of the aforesaid (negroes) |
