73 and him the said negro man named George Brown I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to us our heirs Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this twenty fifth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of The words George Barber (seal) "George Barber" & being first interlined. Benj.a Pindle John T Barber (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness George Barber Benja Pindle John T Barber Anne Arundel County sc.t Be it remembered That on this twenty fifth day of may one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen personally appears George Barber & John T Barber parties to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be their act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to them or to any claiming under them and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Benj.a Pindle Ex.d d.d paid 3½ Recorded the 25th day of may 1818 |
