635 On the 29 day of Febry 1844 appeared D.r John Ridout before me a Justice of the peace and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his act & deed chd Wm Glover J. P. Exd 43 2½ Recorded the 29th day of February 1844 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I James Cheston of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free my negro man named Edward Neale George Hobbs and John Wilson and my negro woman Kitty Neal all under forty four years of age and able to work & gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said Negroes I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever In Witness whereof I have on this 27 day of march in the year 1844 hereunto set my hand and seal Witnesses James H Murray Ja.s Cheston (seal) Saml Cheston On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel county sct On this 27 day of march 1844 personally appears James Cheston before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the aforegoing deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided paid Acknowledged before Gassaway Winterson 39 Recorded the 6th day of april 1844 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I Samuel Cheston of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery (liberated) |
