634 from and after the respective period therein mentioned from all services to her or her heirs provided the said servant man goes to some Colonized settlement of coloured people according to the Conditions expressed in the within manumission and regulated by such act of the assembly of maryland as is provided in such cases for the liberation of slaves for the purpose of their leaving this State to make Africa their future home Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Saml H Hamilton chd 93 7½ Recorded the 14 day of February 1844 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I John Ridout of ann arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit liberate and set free my negro man named George Neale being of the age of Forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named George Neale I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 29 day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Elizabeth Owings Jno Ridout (seal) John C Rogers On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of one dollar Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Jno Ridout (seal) |
