636 liberated manumitted and set free my negro man named Cesar and Toby Bias and my negro women Jane Davis Rachel Hobbs and Susan all under forty five years of age and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said negroes I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators for me In Witness whereof I have on this 27 day of march in the year 1844 hereunto set my hand and seal Witnesses James H Murray Ja.s Cheston Saml Cheston (seal) On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County sc.t On this 27 day of march 1844 personally appears Samuel Cheston before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said county and acknowledges the foregoing deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before paid Gassaway Winterson 39 Recorded the 6th day of april 1844 Know all men by these presents that I Amelia Pinkney of annapolis City in the State of maryland for divers good causes and in consideration of the services heretofore rendered unto me by my negro man Jem Sefton have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Jem Sefton being of the age of twenty seven years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Jem Sefton I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever.
