629 At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland anne arundel County ss on the fourth day of November in the year 1842 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the county aforesaid personally appears Richard J Snowden & acknowledges the above deed of manumission to be his act and deed. And the said Negro woman Sophia Taylor to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from slavery to him and for all persons claiming by through & under him for ever Thos Snowden Exd 2½ Recorded the 6 day of January 1843 Whereas Rebecca Lusby late of anne arundel County in the State of maryland deceased and during her last sickness earnestly desire and expressed it as her wish that her negro man named Nace was [illegible] and settle in the Colony of Siberia on the Coast of Africa and whereas the said Rebecca Lusby did express this life without [illegible] her intention into effect by the Execution of a las twill and testament or deed of manumission liberating the same Negro Nace from slavery in conveyance whereof the said Nace remains a slave for life under the Laws of maryland and descends to the legal representations of the same Rebecca Lusby deceased and was returned in the Inventory of the said descends Estate to the Orphans Court of said County by Stephen Beard administrators of the deceased appeared to the sum of four hundred dollars Now therefore these presents are to Witness that we the undersigned legal heirs and representatives of the said Rebecca Lusby deceased being desirous to Carry into effect the intention and desire of the said deceased do hereby relinquish all our right title and claim jointly and severally to the said negro man Nace and by these presents do give up servitude to and place under the Controul management and care of the managers of the maryland state Colony when society for the removal of the free people of Colour of this State to the Colony of Siberia in Africa the said Negro man Nace to be by |
