       On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
       State of Maryland county of anne arundel sct
             Be it remembered That on this 29 day of January
Eighteen hundred and forty two before the subscriber a
Justice of the peace of said State or for said County duly
commissioned and sworn personally appeared Dorsey
Jacobs he being known unto me to be the person who is
named and described as and professing to be party to the
aforesaid Indenture and acknowledged the same to be
his act and deed  In Testimony whereof I hereunto
subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid

2½   Recorded the 29 day of January 1842


       To all whom it may Concern  be it known that I
Nathaniel Chew of anne arundel County Maryland for
divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto
moving as also in further Consideration of the sum of
five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have
released from slavery liberated manumitted and set
free my negroes Viz Maria of the age of forty four years
Peter aged twenty years Harriet aged Eighteen years Henny
aged fourteen years Maria aged seven years and Eliza
aged four months all able to work and gain a sufficient
livelihood and maintenance and I do declare the said
negroes above mentioned to be henceforth free manumitted
and discharged from all manner of servitude or service
to me my Executors or administrators for ever  In Testimony
whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my
seal this twentieth day of January in the year Eighteen
hundred & forty two
