618 Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Dorsey Jacobs (seal) 1st Witness Robert Boone 2nd Witness William H Cook On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland County of anne arundel sc Be it remembered That on this 29th day of January Eighteen hundred and forty before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of said State in and for said County duly Commissioned and sworn personally appeared Dorsey Jacobs Esq he being known unto me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be party to the aforegoing Indenture and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Robert Boone Ex.d d Exd d paid 2½ Recorded the 29th day of January 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Dorsey Jacobs of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have from and upon the first day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and sixty seven and not before released from slavery manumitted liberated and set free and by these presents do from and upon the said day and not before release from slavery manumit liberate and set free my negro boy named Jarred being at present of about the age of four months and him the said Jarred I hereby declare to be from the said first day of January Eighteen hundred and sixty seven and for ever thenceforth free and manumitted liberated and discharged from all manner of service and servitude to me my Executors administrators and assigns In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 29 day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two (Signed) |
