the date of the Contract aforesaid and with the
knowledge and Consul of said John Watson in his
life time and with the knowledge and Consul of said
Wm J Ross administrator since the death of said John
Watson acted and [illegible] all the privileges and rights
of a free woman  Now Know all men that I William
J Ross administrator as aforesaid in pursuance of the
above recited Contract and of the foregoing premises Do
hereby manumit and liberate the said Sarah Lox a
coloured woman now aged about forty years and her
three children born since the date of the Contract aforesaid
and do as such administrator relinquish and release
all claim against said Sarah Lox and her said three
children  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal on this fifth day of January Eighteen
hundred and forty one

    in the presence of                 John Watson      (seal)
       Wm Glover

    on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
    State of maryland anne arundel County sct
                On this fifth day of January Eighteen hundred
and forty one before the subscriber one of the Justices of
the peace of the State of maryland in and for anne arundel
county personally appeared William J Ross administrator
of John Watson and acknowledged the within and
aforegoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed
for the purposes therein expressed
Ex.d d.d         Acknowledged before      Wm Glover
paid
5   Recorded the 5th day of January 1841
