609 and the negroe woman therein named to be manumitted and discharged from all service to him as to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Exd Acknowledged before Wm Bryan J P 3 Recorded the 1st day of July 1840 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I John maynard of anne Arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Maria Maynard aged about twenty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient maintenance and her the said Negro woman named Maria Maynard I do declare to be hence forth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this second day of november in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of his N H Green John X Maynard (seal) J W Hunter mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this second day of november in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County and State aforesaid personally appears |
