608 from all services to him or any claiming under him as therein set forth and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Exd Acknowledged before J D Weems J P 6 Recorded the 23rd day of April 1840 To all whom it may concern Be it known That I Job Guest of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negroe woman named Sarah Sye she being of the age of about Forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient maintenance and her the said negro woman named Sarah Sye I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Job Guest (seal) Geo Munroe Jos J Nicholson At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this Eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty before me a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the County aforesaid personally appears Job Guest he being known to me as a party to the within instrument and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and |
