607 henceforth free manumitted and discharged from slavery and all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators for ever and I do hereby in like manner release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy John Blackstone to be free from and after the first day of august 1861 when he will be twenty five years of age and I do hereby in like manner release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy Charles Blackstone to be free from and after the first day of april 1863 when he will be twenty five years of age and them the said negroes John Blackstone and Charles Blackstone do declare to be thenceforth viz from the 1.st day of august one thousand eight hundred and sixty one and from the first day of april one thousand eight hundred and sixty three respectively as aforesaid free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty third day of april in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Jn.o Ridout (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of The words aged fifty aged twenty Eight aged forty four in the 14.th 16.th and 18.th lines first page being first interlined Sams Ridout Eliz Owings At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County sct On this 23rd day of april 1840 personally appears John Ridout party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of This State of maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes therein named to be manumitted and discharged (from) |
