606 Joseph wich was about six months old in may 1838 In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of april 1840 Signed Sealled and delivered in presents of Abner Linthicum (seal) Gabriel H Duvall Wm Shipley At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on the twenty second day of april 1840 Personally appeared before us the subscribers two Justices of the peace in and for said County the above named Abner Linthicum who acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed and we do Certify that the said Abner Linthicum is the Identical person signing the above instrument of writing Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Gabriel H Duvall paid Wm Shipley Exd 2¼ Recorded the 22d day of april 1840 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I John Ridout of the City of annapolis and State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following negroes Viz my negro woman Patty Matthews aged fifty my negro man William Matthews aged twenty eight my negro man James Matthews aged twenty seven and my negro woman Delia Blackstone aged forty four all of whom are able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said negroes I do hereby declare to be (hence- |
