599 of writing before me the subscriber and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned chd Acknowledged before Gabriel H Duvall 2½ Recorded the 8.th day of April 1839 Whereas by my deed of manumission dated on or about the sixth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty six and duly acknowledged and recorded I did amongst other things manumit and set free my negro boy named Charles commonly called Charles Franklin to be free on and after the first day of may in the year eighteen hundred and fifty seven. And whereas for divers good Considerations I have resolved to Confer immediate freedom on said boy Now Know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of the premises aforesaid I have manumitted and set free and by these presents do manumit and set free from Slavery my aforesaid negro boy Charles and release and discharge him from all servitude to me my Executors administrators and assigns for ever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of June 1839 Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of Jn.o Ridout Jn.o Ridgely (seal) Wm Bryan At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this 10 day of June in the year 1839 before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared the within named John Ridgely and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed Wm Bryan chd 2½ Recorded the 13th day of June 1839 |
