598 Doyle and severally acknowledged the within Indenture of Instrument of writing to be their acts and deeds according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Given under my hand and seal the day and year above written Ex.d d.d Isaac C Anderson chd 4¼ Recorded the 18th day of march 1839 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I Sally Brown of the City of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County and the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named William Brown being of the age of forty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and him the said negro man named William Brown I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eighth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine Signed Sealed and delivered her in the presence of us Sarah X Brown (seal) Gabriel H Duvall mark William Murdock On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this Eighth day of April Eighteen hundred and thirty nine personally appears Sally Brown party to the within instrument (of) |
