589 August in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight Witness Harwood Eliza between the tenth and Eleventh lines being interlined before signing Sarah G Warfield (seal) Edward Warfield Bela Warfield At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Ann Arundel County to wit On this thirty first day of August eighteen hundred and thirty Eight before me a justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared Sarah G Warfield who is known by me to be the person above named and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed she having signed and sealed the same in my presence Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Edward Warfield chd 3 Recorded the 23d day of october 1838 To all persons to whom it doth or may concern Be it known that I James L Hopkins of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty three one negro woman slave name of Delilah or by whatsoever name she may be known or called being at this time about the age of twenty Eight years and the children of the said woman Delilah to wit Caroline now aged about ten years Betty about Eight years Herbert about four years and Rezin about two years.
