559 deed and the above named negroes to be free at the time and on the terms above mentioned according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Chd Gideon White 3 Recorded the 13th day of August 1834 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Amos Clark of Ann Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Reuben being of the age of twenty six years and my mulatto man named Peter being of the age of twenty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said negro and mulatto men named Reuben and Peter I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Amos Clark (seal) Charles H Stephen Th J Brice At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five dollars current money above mentioned |
