558 Arundell and state of Maryland for divers goods causes me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of five dollars to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my two negro men on the following terms and conditions that is to say my negro man Andrew aged about twenty three years to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty three my negro man Nace aged about twenty one years to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty five and the said negro men Andrew and Nace to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors and administrators forever after the term and dates and conditions above mentioned. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of July Eighteen hundred and thirty four Signed sealed and delivered In presence of Harriet Selby (seal) Gideon White John S Selby At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Ann Arundell County to wit Be it remembered that on this twenty fifth day of July Eighteen hundred and thirty four personally appeared the above named Hariet Selby before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the state and county aforesaid and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed |
