557 To all whom it may concern be it known that I John Ridout of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Phyllis being of the age of twenty eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said Phyllis I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators from and after the first day of June in the year of our Lord 1844 forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28.th day of June 1834 Signed sealed and delivered In presence of us Jn.o Ridout (seal) Samuel Ridout E Owings On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Anne Arundell County Sst: On this 30 day of June 1834 appeared the within named John Ridout before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed Chd Gideon White 2¼ Recorded the 19.th day of July 1834 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Hariet Selby of the City of Annapolis in Ann Arundell |
