554 maintenance and her the said negro Nelly I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service to me my Executors Administrators or Assigns forever In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal the twenty sixth day of october Eighteen hundred & thirty three Signed sealed & delivered in presence of James Hunter M Mercer (seal) J Murray Anne Arundel County Sc. On this twenty sixth day of October 1833 personally appeared Margaret Mercer before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for Anne Arundel County and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act & deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof & the act of assembly in such case made & provided and I further Certify that the said Margaret Mercer is the identical person named therein as grantor paid Acknowledged before & Certified by James Hunter This Indenture witnesseth that I Thomas Cross of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of ten cents to me in hand paid at and before the Ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free aged about Jacob alias Jacob Williams aged about forty seven years my negro woman Linny alias Linny Williams aged about forty one years my negro |
