533 To all whom it may concern be it known that I William M Davis of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and b y these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Nancy being of the age of twenty one years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Nancy I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for Ever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty two Signed sealed and delivered his in the presence of William M + Davis (seal) James Hunter mark Vachel Severe On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On the thirty first day of May Eighteen hundred and thirty two personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county William M Davis and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid James Hunter Recorded the 31.st day of May 1832 To all to whom these presents shall come Know ye that I Eleanor Woodward of anne |
