525 mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided chd Acknowledged before Nathan Shipley 2¾ Recorded the 26.th day of March 1832 To all whom it may concern be it known that I William Childs of Ann Arundel County state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the several dates herein affixed to the negroes hereinafter mentioned or named viz my negro woman Nelly Smothers aged about twenty years to be free from and after the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty six and her infant child Margaret aged one year to be free from and after the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifty six together with all their increase the males at twenty five years and the females at the age of twenty one years and she the said Nelly Smothers able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and they the said negroes named Nelly and Margaret I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude of service to me my executors and administrators from and after the different dates aforesaid affixed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of april in |
