517 children within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to her or to any person claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to act of assembly in such case made and provided chd Acknowledged before N D Warfield of Bela 5 Recorded the 24.th day of January 1832 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel H Hamilton of Ann Arundell County and state of Maryland for divers causes me thereunto moving as also for the further sum of Two dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Thomas or Thomas Ross so called aged forty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man Thomas I hereby declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my heirs Executors and administrators forever from and after the first day of March next. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this Twenty seventh of February Eighteen hundred and thirty two Signd Seald and delivered in presence of Sam.l H Hamilton (seal) Gideon White Theodore Linthicum At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date above mentioned two dollars current money in full consideration of the above instrument of writing Saml H Hamilton Ann Arundell Sst On the 27.th day of February 1832 appear'd |
