508 by these presents do hereby agree to release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following negro to wit: my negro woman Maria otherwise called Maria Worthington aged about twenty eight years to remain in servitude for ten years and then be free that is to say on the fourth day of January one thousand eight hundred and & forty two then free. And all the increase of said Mariah during the term of her servitude as follows the males all the age of twenty eight to be free and the females to be free at the age of twenty five which aforesaid negro woman Mariah is able to work and gain a sufficient maintainance and livelihoof and she the the aforesaid negro woman Mariah and all her increase I do declare to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude and service to me or or my Executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty two Signed sealed and delivered Vachel Severe (seal) in the presence of Th G waters Alex Duvall of Henry At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the year within mentioned the sum of five dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Th G waters Vachel Severe Alex Duvall of Henry Anne Arundel County viz. On this 4.th day of January 1832 personally appears Vachel Severe party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice |
