my hand and affixed my seal this third day of
January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and thirty two

At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit:
Received on the day of the date within mentioned the
sum of Five dollars current money it being the full
consideration money within mentioned
Witness   Th G waters                  Richard Brown
               Alex Duvall of Henry

    Anne Arundel County to wit:   On this third day of
January 1832 personally appears Richard Brown party to
the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber
a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the
state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges
the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within
mentioned and the negro within named to be thenceforth
manumitted and discharged from all service to him or
any claiming under him from the within specified
period and to be free and manumitted according to the
act of assembly in such cases made and provided

To all whom it may concern be it known that Vachel
Severe of the City of Annapolis of anne arundel County
in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and
considerations me thereto moving as also in the further
consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand
paid to agree to release from slavery (from the periods
hereinafter specified) liberate manumit and set free and
