506 of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money above mentioned R Welch of Ben R.d M Chase Ann arundel County sst. On the 30.th day of December 1831 appeared the within named Richard M Chase and Robert Welch of Ben before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided paid Acknowledged before Gideon White Ex.d d.d 3 Recorded the 31.st day of December 1831 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Richard Brown of Anne Arundel County and state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as well also as the further consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid do agree to release from slavery liberate manumit and set free from the period hereinafter named my negro boy George otherwise called George Smithers aged about sixteen years to be free the twenty fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three the aforesaid negro being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood or maintenance and him the above mentioned negro George I do declare to be henceforth free (that is from the twenty fifth day December one thousand eight hundred and forty three) manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me or my executors or administrators forever.
