50 and seventeen Signed Sealed and delivered William P Hardesty (seal) in presence of Thomas Whittington Tho.s Owens On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: anne arundel county to wit: On this sixteenth day of September 1817 personally appears William P Hardesty party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Chd John H D Lane 3¼ Recorded the 16.th day of September 1817 I Sarah Norris of the County of anne arundel in the State of Maryland do hereby set free from bondage my negro woman named Rachel Dennis aged thirty four years and do also set free from bondage her child named Leonard aged four months and twenty five days on this day the twenty ninth of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen and do for myself my Executors and administrators release unto the said Rachel and Leonard all my right and all claim whatsoever to their person or to mt Estate they may require hereby declaring the said Rachel and Leonard are absolutely free without any interruption from me or any person or persons whatsoever claiming under me (In) |
