49 subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro man named Jerry to be manumitted and set free according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before James Hunter 3 Recorded the 9.th day of September 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I WIlliam P Hardisty of ann arundell County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moved as also in further consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars currant money to me in hand paid have releas'd from slavery liberated manumatted and set free and by these presence do hereby releas from slavery liberate manumate and set free after serving untill they are thirty years of age one negro Girl by the name of Elizer aged two years and nine months and one negro Girl by the name of Arey aged one year and six months each child the children of my slave minty Hall by name each of these children and their ofspring are to be free at the age of thirty years these Children being sound and appear fair to be able to work and gain a sufficient livelyhood and maintenance and the above said named Children I declare to be henceforth after the expiration of said term of thirty years to be free and discharge from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whareof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of September and in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred (and) |
