495 On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Rec.d July 1831 the day of the date of the within mentioned deed of manumission the sum of five dollars it being in full of the consideration money therein expressed Test his J F Wilson Darnall X Smith mark Anne Arundel County Sc.t Be it remembered that on this day of June 1831 personally appears Daniel Smith party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the state of Maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purpose within mentioned and the negro woman Harriet and her four children Daniel Hagar Harriett and Henry within named to be henceforth manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided chd acknowledged before J F Wilson 3½ Recorded the 25.th day of October 1831 To all whome it may concern be it known that I Nicholas Ridgely and Mary Ridgely my wife of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar currant money to me in hand do Jointly agree to release from slavery after the death of her the said Mary Ridgely to liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Oen Walker being of the age of twenty years the first day of October last and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Oen walker I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and |
