493 Maryland Sct Ann Arundel County ss Be it remembered that on this day of Twenty ninth day of June 1831 personally appearears Sally Ridgely party to the within manumission before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be her act & deed for the purpose within mentioned & the negro woman ^within^ named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all service to her or any claiming under her & to be free & manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made & provided chd Acknowledged before H G Grimes (seal) 3¼ Recorded the 5.th day of October 1831 Know all men by these presents that I Nicholas Brewer Junior of Anne Arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one Dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free my negro girl named Sophia being of the age of fifteen years to be free from and after the term of fifteen years from this date and her issue born during the said period to be free at the age of thirty years and her the said negro girl named Sophia after the said term of fifteen years and her issue at the age of thirty years I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eighteenth day of October Eighteen hundred and thirty one Signed sealed and delivered in the Nichs Brewer Jr (seal) presence of William McNeir Ezekiel Hughes On |
