492 any claiming under him according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided paid Gideon White 3½ Recorded the 5.th day of October 1831 Maryland Sct Ann Arundel County ss To all whom it may concern be it known that I Sally Ridgely of Anne Arundel county in the state aforesaid for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars money of the united States to be me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted & set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit & set free my negro woman Charlotte williams being of the age of thirty three years and able to work & gain a sufficient livelihood & maintenance and her the said negro woman named Charlotte Williams I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of servitude to me my Executors or administrators for ever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 29.th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & thirty one Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Sally Ridgely (seal) David Walker his Timothy + Donald mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five dollars money of the united states it being the the full consideration money above mentioned Sally Ridgely witness H G Grimes Maryland |
