48 in such cases made and provided Chd Acknowledged before John Johns Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 23d day of august 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it know that I Zadock Wells of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Jerry being of the age of twenty two years to be free on the Eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine I do hereby declare the said negro man named Jerry to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors administrators or assigns from and after the Eighth day of september in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine.
