       To all whom it may concern  Be it know that I
Zadock Wells of anne arundel County in the State of
Maryland for divers good causes and considerations
me thereunto moving as also in further consideration
of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid
have released from slavery liberated manumitted and
set free and by these presents do hereby release from
slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man
named Jerry being of the age of twenty two years
to be free on the Eighth day of September in the year
of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty
nine   I do hereby declare the said negro man
named Jerry to be henceforth free manumitted
and discharged from all manner of servitude
or service to me my heirs Executors administrators or
assigns from and after the Eighth day of september
in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
hundred and thirty nine.  In Testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this Eighth day of September in the year of our
Lord one thousand Eight hundred & seventeen
Signed Sealed & delivered      Zadock Wells  (seal)
    in the presence of
    James Hunter,   Henry Maynadier

       On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written
to wit:            State of maryland Anne Arundel County
sc.   On this Eighth day of September in the year
