and considerations me thereunto moving have and
by thes presents do manumit set free and liberate
from slavery a negro boy by the name of Robert
Benjamin about Eighteen months old  In testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
six day of August 1831
Sighned sealed and delivered               her
in the presents of                       Nancy X Rainer  (seal)
Olivia M C Pitcher   Martha Pitcher    mark

    At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
          Ann Arundel County to wit  Be it remembered
that on the six day of August 1831 personally appears
before me the subscribers a Justices of the peace in
and for said County the above named Nancy Rainer
who acknowledge the foregoing instrument of writing
to be her act and deed

    Whereas Robert Johnson a free coloured man contracted
to purchase his wife Ann and her child Edward from a
certain William Sanders now deceased from the sum of Two
hundred and ten dollars and a certain Joshua Linthicum
became security for the payment of said purchase money
and paid the same to the said William Sanders and
whereas the said William Sanders executed to the said
Joshua Linthicum a Bill of Sale for the said woman
and child upon Condition that when the said Robert
Johnson should pay to the said Joshua Linthicum or
