482 Edward Pully a man of Colour a negro child named Edward in the second year of his age son of my negro woman Sophia daughter of the said Edward Pully To have and To hold the said child Edward untill he shall arrive to the age of Twenty one at which period of age the said Edward is to be free It is my will and desire that the said child Edward be carefully brought up and instructed by said Edward Pully untill he shall be Twenty one when he is to have his freedom Given from under my hand & seal this thirtieth day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty witnesses Gideon Pearce Sarah E Murray (seal) D Murray At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On the 30.th day of December 1830 personally appeared before the undersigned a Justice of the peace for said County Sarah E Murray who acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned according to the true intent and meaning thereof paid Gideon Pearce Ex.d d.d 2¼ Recorded the 2.d day of June 1831 To whom it may concern Be it known that I Sarah E Murray of the City of annapolis state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations of one dollar current money current money to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Caroline sometimes called Caroline Robertson about seventeen years of age of |
