47 thousand Eight hundred and nineteen manumitted set free and for ever discharged from slavery and by these presents do hereby from and after the fifteenth day of march one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen aforesaid manumit set free and for ever discharge from slavery a mulattoe man to me belonging ^known^ by the name of Daniel or Daniel Sparrow and the said Daniel his said manumission freedom and discharge from slavery from and after the fifteenth day of march one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen aforesaid I the said John Francis mercer by these presents do shall and will for ever warrant and defend free from the claim or claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eighteenth day of august one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen Testes James Mercer John F Mercer (seal) Cary S Mercer on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: anne arundel County to wit: On this 18th day of august 1817 Personally appears John F mercer party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the mulatto man within named to be after the fifteenth day of march one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly (in) |
