The words on the first day of July in the twelfth line of the first was interlined before the acknowledgement was taken chd Test N Shipley 3¾ Recorded the 30.th day of July 1830 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Richard M Chase of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one Cent Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named James Blackstone who was bequeathed to me by the last will and Testament of the late Honrable Jeremiah Townley Chase to serve me for the term of two years upon Condition that he demeaned and deported himself well during the term of his servitude and I do declare him the said James Blackstone to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or Administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth day of September Anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred and thirty Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us R.d M Chase (seal) Rob.t B Belt Tho G Waters On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Ann |
