    Ann Arundel County sst  On this 9.th day of September
1830 appeared Richard M Chase before the subscriber a Justice
of the peace for said County and acknowledged the within
Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such
case made and provided                              Gideon White

To all whom it may concern be it known that I Margaret
Mercer of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland for
divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving and also
in further consideration of the sum of one dollar Current money
to me in hand at the delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery liberated
manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from
slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the first
day of September next my negro man named John Young
being of the age of thirty six years my negro woman named
Milly the wife of the said John Young being of the age of
thirty years and my negro boy named Forrester the son of the
said John and Milly his wife being of the age of thirteen years
all of whom are able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood
and maintenance and them the said negro man named John
Young and the said negro woman named Milly and the said
negro boy named Forrester I declare to be free manumitted and
discharged from the said first day of september next from all
manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators
forever.   And I do hereby authorize the said negroes to depart
from my residence and transport themselves and their effects
wheresoever and whensoever they may devise to enable them to
comply with the provision of this instrument.  In witness
