457 paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do manumit and set free the said negro man by the name of Jacob Adams after he the said Jacob shall have served the above term of Eleven years which will be on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty nine being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and him the said negro man named Jacob Adams I do declare from the said date to wit on the twenty third day of December of the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators or assigns forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of April in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty Signed sealed and delivered In the presence of Thomas T Simmons Samuel Norman (Seal) Rob.t B Belt At the foot of the aforegoing was thus Endorsed to wit Received on the day of the above date the sum of five dollars current money the sum above mentioned as a consideration Samuel Norman (seal) Anne Arundel County Sc.t On the 6.th day of april 1830 personally appeared Samuel Norman party to the above Instrument of writing before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro man therein named to be free from and after the twenty third day of December Eighteen hundred and |
