449 Anne Arundel County ss. On this nineteenth day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty nine came Eleanor Woodward before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the above manumission or Instrument of writing to be her act and deed chd Henry W Woodward (Ss) 2½ Recorded the 8.th day of January 1830 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Eleanor Cowley of anne arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro girl named Mary being of the age of fifteen years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and her the said Mary to serve my three grand children for a term of years Mary Ellen Thomas Rezin Shearbert and Samuel Shearbert and the increase of my said negro girl Mary thats born during the term of her servitude to be free males at the age of twenty one and females at the age of Eighteen years to serve my said grand children and further my said negro girl Mary to be free and at her full liberty on the first day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty ^forty^ one and their increase to their latest generations to be forever free to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of Sep.t Eighteen (hundred) |
