428 Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negroes to wit Harriet aged nineteen and a half years to be free the 13th day of November 1829 James aged seventeen years to be free the 16th day of February 1837 John aged sixteen years nearly to be free the 11th day of December 1838 Elizabeth aged thirteen years to be free the 9th day of May 1832 Ann aged Eleven years to be free the 28th day of June 1834 Dorcas aged seven years to be free the 25th day of December 1838 Charles aged four years to be free the 12.th day of April 1846 Henry son of Harriet aged eight days to be free the 15th day of June 1850. All of which said negroes are healthy and strong able to gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and they the said negroes so named I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from and after the periods affixed to their several names from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever they and their increase that shall be born after this date during their servitude the males at twenty one years of age and the females at sixteen years of age to be free and fully discharged from all manner of servitude In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty Sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Jos Mayo N H Green Henry Matthews (seal) |
