429 At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this 26th day of June 1829 personally appears Henry Matthews party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the said negroes within named and their increase to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Jos Mayo paid 4½ Recorded the 26th day of June 1829 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Amelia Pinkney of anne arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Susan being of the age of thirty eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Susan I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of July in the year (of) |
