419 being able to work and gain a living and maintainance and him the said negro man named Jacob Adams I do declare from the said date to wit on the twenty third day of December of the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators or assigns forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty third day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight Signed sealed and delivered Samuel Norman (seal) In the presence of J F Wilson Rec.d on the day of the above date the sum of five dollars the sum mentioned above as the consideration Samuel Norman (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to To wit Ann Arundel County Ss On this 23rd day of Decr 1828 personally appears Samuel Norman party to the above Instrument of writing before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro man therein named to be free from and after the twenty third day of Dec.r Eighteen hundred and thirty nine according to the act of assembly in such cases made paid Acknowd Before J F Wilson Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 19th day of February 1829 To all whom it may concern Be it mentioned that I Henry Lyon Davis of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me (thereunto) |
