418 Received on the day of the above date mentioned the sum of one dollar current money it being the full consideration money above mentioned Richard G Hutton her Sophia x Moore mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written To wit State of Md A A County To wit On this 24th day of Nov 1828 personally appears Sophia Moore party to the above Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes above mentioned and the negroes girls above named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to her or any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Richard G Hutton 3¼ Recorded the 2nd day of December 1828 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel Norman of ann arundel County and state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me moving thereunto as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do manumit and set free my negro man by the name of Jacob Adams after he the said Jacob shall have arrived at the age of thirty five which will be on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty nine and which date will be eleven years form the date of these presents (being) |
