407 On the Back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Ann Arundell County Sc on the 4th day of october 1828 Appeared the above named Edward williams before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed Gideon White Recd on the day and date above mentioned the sum of one dollar Current money being the full Consideration above mentioned Witness Edwd williams paid Gideon White 2¼ Recorded the 4th day of October 1828 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I James Pryor of anne arundel County in the state of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and sett free from and after the ninth day of october in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty nine my negro slave named Benjamin Jones being of the age of fourteen years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro boy named Benjamin Jones I do declare to be from and after the ninth day of October Eighteen hundred and forty nine free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs executors or administrators (for) |
