398 therein mentioned agreeably to the True intent & meaning thereof Taken and acknowledged before Chd McLane Brown 2½ Recorded the 22nd day of April 1828 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I William Shipley of anne arundel County and State of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand in paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these Presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free after the fifth day of feby 1835 my negro slave named sam Hall being of the age of thirty six years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelyhood and maintenance and him the said negro man named sam Hall I do declare to be from and after the fifth day of February Eighteen hundred and thirty five as aforesaid next ensuing the date hereof free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of February Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight Signed Sealed and delivd in Presence of William shipley of Rt (seal) Thos Burgess Ona Burgess On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County On this fifth day of February 1828 |
